Traditional Chinese MedicineAliso Viejo, CA
At Open Mind Modalities, we use traditional Chinese medicine to help relieve pain and symptoms for multiple conditions. While patients with similar conditions will have similar symptoms, they may experience different effects on the body. Each individual is unique and may need a specific form of treatment. With traditional Chinese medicine, there are several techniques that we can use to treat a patient. However, some techniques may not work as well for each patient. Thus, we are able to update or alter the treatment as necessary.
We can find the best form of treatment for each patient and help them in a calm atmosphere. Since we individually formulate treatments involving traditional Chinese medicine, they are continuously updated to respond to changes in an individual’s pattern of disharmony. Many of our treatments help with the natural flow of energy in the body (Qi). We help decrease a patient’s pain by interacting with specific points that influence the body’s Qi flow.
Some of our more common treatment methods include:
- Herbal Therapy
Acupuncture is one of our more common treatment methods and involves placing needles at strategic points on the body. These disposable needles are as thin as a human hair, to help treat the patient while causing as little pain as possible. In many cases, the patient does not feel anything during the procedure.
Unlike common painkillers or medication, which only mask symptoms, we specifically design our formulas to match the patient’s patterns of disharmony. The formulas involved in herbal therapy are modified to meet the individual patient’s needs without disrupting their prescribed doctor’s treatment.
Moxibustion is the process in which we warm specific acupuncture points to stimulate the movement of Qi (the life force of the body). This process also helps to relieve pain and restore balance to specific disharmonies.
ACUPRESSURE AND MASSAGE
This process involves gentle stimulation of specific points along the 12 main meridians of the body, muscle insertions and origins to relieve pain. This process can take on a variety of forms depending on the patient’s condition and needs.
Cupping is the application of negative-pressure devices onto specific acupuncture points to relieve respiratory congestion and pain. The process of cupping usually involves heating and placing glass cups on the patient’s back; creating a vacuum of suction on the skin. This process is harmless to the patient.

THE TREATMENT PROCESS
The treatment process at Open Mind Modalities is always changing for the need of the individual patient. No patient is exactly the same as another and will need specifications to the treatment that other patients do not need. Due to this, we are always willing to update the treatment process for the patient’s needs.
Our treatment process begins with an examination and consultation. During the first examination, we will gather information on the patient’s health history and current condition. For children, we will make this process as comfortable as possible by working with the parent or guardian. We will go over all symptoms the patient is experiencing and any other relevant details before developing a treatment plan. We will also be sure to clearly explain every part of the child’s treatment to the family and answer any questions.
Once we customize the treatment plan to the needs of the individual patient, we will begin the treatment process through however many appointments are necessary. The amount of necessary appointments can vary greatly on the condition of the patient and the patient’s willingness to participate. In other cases, we may need to update or alter the treatment as the patient’s condition changes. Above all else, our treatment will offer patients and their families a calm and peaceful environment. We strive to relieve a patient’s pain and help the patient achieve a healthy lifestyle.
If you or a loved one is struggling with constant pain, seek professional integrated treatment with Open Mind Modalities to ease the pain and live a healthier life. For more information, call us at (949) 229-4033.
